Environment

Environment – summary findings Having selected and purchased our site we needed to carry out various surveys in order to compile our development plan and to support any planning applications. These were:

Environmental Report –This was a critical report without which no planning permission can be granted. We created our own private reserve to house a range of highly protected species found on the site. An incredible 6,578 protected plants were laboriously found, dug up and replanted in our private Nature Reserve.

Strict attention and care is given throughout the entire developmental process of Flamingo Lakes Resorts which is monitored and approved by the Sermanat, the local governing environmental agency. Painstaking care is essential in preserving the local environment and protecting the local Flamingo Population and water sources.

Archaeological Report –The Mayan Civilisation between 300 and 900 AD inhabited this region and before any site can be developed it has to be surveyed to ensure old ruins are not being disturbed. A team from the EENAH carried out the search and actually lived full time on the site for months. The survey was very extensive and ruins have been found in our Nature Reserve and these will undergo restoration and will hopefully be a feature of the site.

Topographical Report –With an area of land the size of Flamingo Lakes, we chose the latest technology for the topographic survey, taking photographs of every 10 meters but with the capability of a reading every centimeter! The cameras didn’t work under certain atmospheric and weather conditions and took 9 weeks to complete. The study concluded that the site was generally 8 meters above sea level and rose a maximum of two meters throughout the site. Armed with that level of detailed information all the other architectural plans could commence work.
